stamps of Malaysia

1957 was the year the first Malaysian stamps were released. Of course, it was the year of Independence or Merdeka. In 1957 Malaya became independent from the United Kingdom. For the first 6 years the stamps bore the title of Malaysian Federation. In 1963 Sabah and Sarawak were added to the federation and Singapore left.
By now the Malaysian postal service began to produce to produce stamps of beautiful butterflies. Over the years Malaysia continued to produce beautiful and colourful stamps. Like many other countries, special events were made eternal on stamps. Think of the 25 years celebration of the Nation, and recently the 50th anniversary.
Nature is not forgotten, as said, postal stamp history in Malaysia started with butterflies. As the Malaysian jungle is home for many exotic species, many of them have been portrayed in stamps.
Malaysia has its own collection of sport stamps. The tradition started in 1965 with a set of stamps for the Southeast Asian Peninsular Games. Other series issues included: clock towers, insects, air transportation, monuments, Sabah and Sarawak and many more.
You could learn Malaysia's history and culture by looking at the postal stamps issued over the years. And the stamps are always worth looking at
